Hey Yall,
I didn't go into much detail about the gravity wagon on the video. It was the cheapest way we found to fill up grain bins and feeders around the farm. We used one for a while even before we added mechanized feed systems to our coop. You can usually find them used on facebook marketplace, craigslist, or tractorhouse.com for $1000-2000. We added a hydraulic powered via our tractor to our gravity wagon for $1800 from unverferth once we added grain bins to the mix. https://www.umequip.com/bulk-handling/augers/ . You don't need this large of tractor for this, but being a dairy farm, we have several tractors on the farm. a small tractor, 30-50 hp would operate one fine.
Haden,
I got frustrated with my gravity wagon and auger setup, since I found that mash feed would always hang up and I'd spend huge amounts of time hammering on the sides or raking feed down the slope. We even painted the inside with graphite paint so the steel was pretty slippery, but the problem was just that the slope was too shallow.
Have you found specific wagons with more slope to them?
I can't tell from your photo, but it looks from the powder and dust that you might also be using mash feed. I suspect that with pelleted feed the problem might be reduced.
Thanks, Dave
